Apologies for the recent spam messages on the forum. I've been busy the past couple of days and only just noticed. I've removed the offending accounts and cleanup is underway. I've also changed the signup procedure so new accounts now need activated by an admin. The forum wasn't hacked, it was a spa...

Meeting early next week - Participents welcome
Hi All We're organising a meeting early next week to more this project forward and decide who exactly is on the team. All delegates who were in the food hub group during the conference are welcome, as is anyone else who would like to contribute. We'll most likely be meeting on Jitsi, but if people f...

Conversation with Nick Weir of Open Food Network
Today I met with Nick Weir of Open Food Network. I'd say it went very well, we certainly seem to be on the same page. I found there's agreement between myself and OFN on the wider implications of and reasons for decentralisation of the food system. Localisation, engagement, environmentalism and comm...

Ideas pertaining to a collaberative online knowledge-base
Is there anyone from the policy group here? I was very impressed with Helen OKeefe's presentation yesterday, specifically the proposal to establish an information resource. This is something that several groups have mentioned and that seems essential to facilitate effective action and avoid duplicat...

Where are the boundaries between food, environmentalism and localism?
Where are the boundaries between food, environmentalism and localism? I suspect everyone may have a different answer to this, it seems prudent to ask the question. The conference has been about food, but it's clear there is a strong undercurrent of environmentalism (specifically sustainability and r...

Information Gathering - Questions to be asked?
We'll be getting in touch with producers, operators of hubs and hub-like entities, and also with someone from OFN. These meetings may happen on Zoom or Jitsi or a similar video conferencing platform, or the conversations may happen by email, or perhaps something else. It really depends on what works...

Re: Draft Summary/Overview Document
I've made some edits to the document to incorporate feedback from within the online hub group today, and also in light of the other group's presentations. Specifically... Changed the colour of the "This is a Draft" statement, making it more obvious it's not part of the document. Added an o...

Re: Open Food Network - Information, alternatives and choices
The most important thing is going to be finding a platform that works well. It would be nice if that also turned out to be open source, but it must be better to have something corporate that works than to have something open source that doesn't! Agreed. I should clarify that some of the specific re...

Re: Open Food Network - Information, alternatives and choices
Customers need to be able to go to a single website, relating to a hub which is near enough for them to be able to collect orders, or which will co-ordinate deliveries to them, from any or all of the producers selling on the hub. Ideally customers would be able to make a single payment for an order...

Re: Open Food Network - Information, alternatives and choices
I've spent the past couple of days trying to get an OFN server installed so we can have a play with it. I think that's important so we can play with setting up hubs, producers, products and so on without impacting on a live environment. I also wanted to have it done before opening a dialogue with th...

Re: Organisation name in profile
Ah, I understand. I'll look into adding additional fields for "Facebook Group" and "YouTube Channel", probably sometime this evening. I'll post here once I've investigated.

Re: Organisation name in profile
On further investigation, the permission seems to be set correctly. The website field seems to work, can you confirm? For Facebook and probably for other social media accounts too... In the profile you don't put the entire URL as you would for a web link, you just put the account name. So for Planet...

Thanks for flagging this up Anna, I can confirm that I get the same error. There seems to be a permission set incorrectly somewhere, I'll look into it.

helenstrong I agree this is a very useful feature. I've just installed an extension that should enable this functionality, this post is serving as a test. Open Food Network - Information, alternatives and choices
In considering a software platform to use for the online food hub the Open Food Network is the current front runner. Several delegates have spoken highly of it, it seems a highly polished and capable piece of software that would meet almost all of our needs. The Open Food Network is a worldwide grou...
